The History of the Perfect Pooch Pack

The Perfect Pooch Pack is composed of all the dogs that live at or belong to the staff of Perfect Pooch. These are the most stable and calm dogs that are in or yard due to the fact that they are here everyday and they all belong to people that work here at Perfect Pooch. We use these dogs to help stabilize unstable dogs. All together there are sixteen dogs that we use for this purpose. Most of these dogs are rescues, dogs that were aggressive or just too unruly for the owners to handle.

As most of you already know, our training program revolves around the leader follower relationship. Majority rules in a pack when it comes to dealing with unstable or aggressive dogs. The sixteen staff dogs influence the other dogs to be well behaved and fall into follower mode very quickly

Butters (Miniature Poodle)

Butters was just too much for his owners to handle.  They had young children and he got spoiled a little bit. With a poodle, as with all breeds, spoiling can lead to big problems. Butters was beginning to show signs of aggression, and all kinds of other unwanted of behaviors. Kevin took Butters, and within weeks he was a different dog. He is never aggressive, he is reliable off a leash, and very friendly.

Laden (Mix)

Laden was adopted by Kevin in 2008 from a shelter in North Carolina.  She was one of a litter of 9 puppies that was found abandoned in the woods and turned into the shelter.  She was estimated to be a Springer Spaniel mix, but we really don't know her lineage.  She is a naturally calm dog and eager to perform for a little attention.

Riley (Labrador Retriever / Rottweiler)

Riley is a two and a half year old Lab Rottweiler mix owned by Sarah who is a natural with dogs.  When she came to Perfect Pooch she already had Riley. When she started working here, and we saw how well behaved Riley was without going through the Perfect Pooch program we were very impressed. We knew she was going to fit in nicely with the Perfect Pooch team.

Benny (Bassett Hound)

After working at Perfect Pooch for a couple of months, Sarah got Benny the Basset as a 9 week old puppy. Benny has become a well balanced, well behaved, very friendly pack clown.

Sun (Pit Bull)

Sun is a Pit Bull that Perfect Pooch rescued from PAWS (a shelter in the city). Sun was on his way to be euthanized due to aggression. He was aggressive and had no concept of how to live with humans. We were originally going to rehabilitate him and then adopt him out to a good home, but Sarah liked him so much she decided to make him part of her pack along with Riley and Benny.  Sun has even performed as understudy for a role in the play Oliver performed at the Walnut Street Theater in Philadelphia.
