Perfect Pooch Membership and Evaluation
Here at Perfect Pooch we supervise our dogs closely and maintain a safe and healthy environment for them. Since the majority of our dogs have been through Perfect Pooch training, they are well socialized and listen to their human pack leaders (us!). Therefore, new dogs coming into the yard are carefully evaluated for stability and temperament.
If you have not previously trained with us, we need to evaluate your dog. This is to determine if it can join our group without issue, or if socialization training is necessary. Our evaluation is free and typically takes half a day to a day. Your dog will pass or fail.
Perfect Pooch Evaluation (Temperamant Testing)
Perfect Pooch evaluation testing is meant to reveal different aspects of your dog’s temperament. Away from their owners, dogs can exhibit a range of good and bad behaviors. Behaviors of concern include shyness, instability, aggressiveness, protectiveness and anxiety. Of course, more positive behaviors we like to see include friendliness, attentiveness and overall good manners.
Our staff will simulate real-life situations that a dog may face on a day-to-day basis simply by introducing him or her to new people and surroundings here. The ability of your dog to listen to direction and respond to simple requests such as come and sit will be studied, and then, your dog
will gradually be introduced to the rest of our facility and some more easy going members of the dog pack. At this point we determine if it is prudent to fully allow interaction with all our dogs, who vary greatly in energy level, personality and breed.
A dog will not pass the evaluation process if he/she shows unprovoked aggression, unpredictable or unstable behavior on an extreme level, panic without recovery, or any mannerism that deems him/her a risk for our yard without more in depth training and socialization.
We will provide our professional opinion for the most efficient and effective way to help any dog that fails our evaluation. We want your dog to be able to reach a point where it can live happily within the rules and expectations of the Perfect Pooch pack.
Membership Pricing
If your dog passes and you wish to use our facility for daycare and/or boarding, there is a membership fee. Our minimum fee is $50.00, which covers administrative work and dog handling fees. A minimum charge means your dog has passed our evaluation satisfactorily, and can reliably join our other dogs in the yard. 
If we feel additional socialization work is necessary for your dog, in order to ensure safety and stability for all our dogs, the cost for your membership may increase up to $250. Our fee directly reflects the time and attention we give your dog. Once paid, it is considered a Lifetime Membership Fee.
In the event your dog fails our evaluation process, we will suggest training options or the best situation to meet your needs. If you choose to train here, the membership fee will be deducted from your training costs.
