Trainer/Dog Handler
Perfect Pooch is looking for a trainer/dog handler to join our team of pack leaders. Requirements for this job include a college degree, preferably in animal science or teaching. Vet tech, kennel work, search and rescue or any other relevant work will also be considered. Duties will include, but are not limited to: administrative work and kennel cleaning, as well as learning to train with positive reinforcement and correction based methods. We are a very small group of professionals dedicated to handling each client and their dog(s) with the very best skills and knowledge in progressive dog training. Kennel and Yard Assistant
The main responsibility of the kennel assistant is to keep the kennel clean and orderly. Upon letting the dogs out in the morning and bringing them in at the end of the day, the kennel must be thoroughly cleaned.
The kennel assistant will assist in the yard, helping to keep the dogs calm and addressing excitement, instability, or bad behavior. Managing a pack of dogs requires cultivating leadership skills. Therefore, learning the Perfect Pooch Training philosophy and methods is essential. It is necessary to interrupt barking, mounting, jumping, digging, energy bursts (i.e. high speed running) and anxiety. Also, the ability to always remain calm, yet assertive, while working with dogs is important. Other responsibilities will include various tasks throughout the kennel and office area.
